An older TAG Heuer automatic model WK2110 came into Ross Watch Repairs with two clear problems: the watch was not working and the crown would no longer screw down correctly.
Rather than treating this as a single-part repair, the watch required a full mechanical service together with a replacement crown. Once the repair work was complete, we also gave the watch a complimentary polish to reduce the majority of the visible surface scratches and bring the case and bracelet back to a much cleaner finish.
Before and After: TAG Heuer WK2110 Restoration
The difference is easiest to see in the before-and-after photographs from the workshop.

The Fault: Automatic TAG Heuer Not Working
When an automatic watch stops, the cause cannot always be identified from the outside. A mechanical movement contains many interacting components, and age, dried lubrication, wear or an internal fault can all affect its ability to run reliably.
For this WK2110, the appropriate repair was a full service and overhaul. A full service is designed to address the movement as a whole rather than simply trying to restart a watch that has stopped.

The Crown Would Not Screw Down
The second fault was the crown. It was no longer screwing down correctly, so the crown needed to be replaced as part of the repair.
A screw-down crown is designed to engage securely with the case tube. If it will not screw down, keeps slipping or no longer catches the thread correctly, it should be assessed rather than forced. Continuing to tighten a damaged crown can potentially make the fault worse.
Crowns, stems and other external components are covered within our watch part repair service.
Full Service and Crown Replacement
The agreed repair consisted of two main jobs:
- A full service of the automatic movement
- Replacement of the faulty crown
This allowed us to address both the reason the watch had stopped and the separate problem with the screw-down crown.
Older automatic TAG Heuer watches are often worth repairing rather than replacing, particularly when the owner likes the model, has had the watch for many years or simply wants to keep the original watch in use.
Complimentary Polish to Restore the Appearance
The case and bracelet had accumulated visible scratches through normal wear. After the mechanical repair was completed, the watch received a complimentary polish.
The aim was not to make an older watch artificially perfect. Instead, the polish reduced the majority of the visible surface scratching and gave the steel a much cleaner overall appearance while keeping the watch recognisably its original self.
These workshop photographs show the condition of the clasp and bracelet before the cosmetic work was completed.
For watches requiring more extensive cosmetic work, we also offer watch cleaning and polishing services.
The Finished TAG Heuer WK2110
After the service, crown replacement and cosmetic work, the WK2110 was returned to a much better overall condition: the automatic watch was repaired, the faulty crown had been replaced and the exterior looked noticeably fresher.

Can an Older TAG Heuer Automatic Watch Be Restored?
In many cases, yes. The correct repair depends on the movement, the availability of parts and the overall condition of the watch, but age alone does not necessarily mean a TAG Heuer is beyond repair.
Typical work on older TAG Heuer watches can include:
- Automatic movement servicing
- Crown and stem repairs
- Hands and dial repairs
- Glass replacement
- Bracelet and clasp repairs
- Case and bracelet polishing
- Pressure testing where appropriate

Frequently Asked Questions
Why has my automatic TAG Heuer stopped working?
An automatic watch can stop for a number of reasons, including wear, old lubrication or an internal movement fault. The movement needs to be assessed to identify the cause and determine whether a full service or another repair is required.
Why won’t my TAG Heuer crown screw down?
The crown or the threads it engages with may be worn or damaged. It is best not to force the crown. In this WK2110 repair, the crown was replaced.
Can you restore an old TAG Heuer WK2110?
Yes, depending on its condition and parts availability. This real WK2110 received a full service, replacement crown and complimentary polish.
Can scratches be removed from a TAG Heuer bracelet?
Many surface scratches can be reduced through professional polishing. Deeper marks may remain, and the amount of refinishing appropriate for a watch depends on its condition and construction.
Do you repair TAG Heuer watches by post?
Yes. Customers throughout the UK can use our postal repair service. The watch is assessed and the repair options are confirmed before work proceeds.
