Signs Your Watch Needs a Service
12-month guarantee on both battery and movement.
Automatic/Mechanical Watches
- Losing or Gaining Time: Beyond +/- 15 seconds per day (varies by mechanism).
- Moisture Issues: Foggy crystals or visible water droplets.
- Reduced Power Reserve: Not holding a charge after being fully wound.
- Malfunctioning Functions: Chronograph or date wheel not working.
- No Ticking at All: Complete stoppage.
Quartz Watches
- Starting and Stopping: Appears to lose time intermittently.
- Malfunctioning Functions: Chronograph or date wheel not working.
- Frequent Battery Drain: New batteries dying quickly (assuming high-quality batteries).
- No Response with Fresh Battery: No movement even after battery replacement.
- Moisture Issues: Foggy crystals or visible water droplets.
The Difference Between Quartz and Automatic/Mechanical Watch Service
- Inspection: The watch is opened, and the movement is thoroughly examined.
- Movement Replacement: A brand-new movement is ordered (replacing the entire mechanism often proves more cost-effective than repairing individual parts).
- Component Removal: Crown, hands, and dial are carefully detached from the old movement.
- Ultrasonic Cleaning: The watch case and bracelet are cleaned, removing trapped dirt and 99.9% of bacteria.
- Reassembly: Dial is attached to the new movement, hands and crown are reinstalled, and the movement is secured into the case.
- Gasket Inspection: Any worn gaskets are replaced; otherwise, they’re treated with silicone grease for extra protection.
- Battery Replacement: A brand-new, Swiss-made battery is fitted.
- Pressure Test: Ensures the watch is resealed correctly and meets manufacturer standards.
- Final Checks: All features (chronograph, alarms, date, etc.) are tested before returning the watch to you.
