A brief history of Montblanc
Montblanc's watchmaking combines the work of its Swiss manufactures in Le Locle and Villeret. The Star Legacy collection traces its introduction to 1997, bringing classical watch design together with the company's familiar star emblem.
Its Villeret heritage reaches further back through Minerva, the watchmaking business founded there in 1858. That workshop developed a long tradition of mechanical movements and chronographs, which forms an important part of Montblanc's fine-watchmaking story.

Can you assess a Montblanc chronograph or automatic watch?
We inspect the movement, winding and timekeeping before recommending work. Chronograph and other complication repairs are quoted individually, with parts availability and the appropriate repair route explained first. The battery packages below apply to conventional quartz watches.
How much does Montblanc battery replacement cost?
Battery replacement and resealing starts from £49.95 for time/date watches and £59.95 for chronograph models. We confirm the final quote, including VAT, after inspecting your watch and before starting. Premium and Mini Service packages are available for suitable quartz models.
Can you replace the battery on the same day?
Many straightforward battery replacements can be completed in around one hour at our London branches, with no appointment needed. Damaged seals, movement faults and additional work may take longer. We confirm the expected turnaround when we assess the watch.
How long will servicing or a repair take?
The time depends on the fault, movement and parts needed. Servicing and work requiring ordered components take longer than a straightforward battery or strap replacement. We give an estimate after assessment; postal repairs also need time for delivery in both directions.
Do you use genuine Montblanc parts?
Parts depend on availability and the repair required. We explain whether genuine components or suitable alternatives can be supplied and agree the approach before work begins. We do not claim manufacturer authorisation or access to every brand-specific part.
Is my watch pressure tested?
Where appropriate, we test after resealing using a test suited to the model, its rating and its condition. Testing does not increase the manufacturer’s water-resistance rating. We explain the result and any additional crown or seal work required.
Can I send my watch by post?
Yes. Send your securely packed watch to Ross Watch Repairs, Unit 4B, Cabot Place Shopping Centre, Canary Wharf, London E14 4QT using Royal Mail Special Delivery, with cover appropriate to its value. Include your name, phone number, email, return address and the fault or work required. Repairs under £50, assessments and warranty returns carry a £15 postal charge. Contact us before sending if you need advice.
When do I pay, and what is the guarantee?
Payment is on completion. Standard Battery & Reseal includes a 12-month guarantee, Premium Battery & Reseal includes 24 months, and Mini Service includes 36 months. Cover for other repairs is confirmed with your quote.
