About 88 Rue Du Rhone watches
88 Rue du Rhône (often written 88 Rue Du Rhone) was a Swiss watch brand launched in 2012 by brothers Pierre and Elie Bernheim, the grandsons of renowned Swiss watchmaker Raymond Weil. The company aimed to offer Swiss-made watches with luxury styling at more affordable prices, generally between £300 and £900.
The name was inspired by Geneva's prestigious Rue du Rhône and the number 8, which is associated with good fortune and eternity.
- 2012Officially launched at Selfridges in London, introducing the Double 8 Origin collection of quartz, automatic and chronograph watches.
- 2013Between 2013 and 2015 the brand expanded internationally, reaching approximately 40 countries, and partnered with the BAFTA Film Awards.
- 2016Despite its rapid expansion, the company entered bankruptcy proceedings.
- 2020The Swiss company was officially removed from the commercial register on 19 November 2020.
Today, 88 Rue du Rhône is a discontinued Swiss watch brand. Its connection to the Raymond Weil family is genuine, although it was a separate brand.
From a watch-repair perspective, many of its watches may still be repairable using compatible Swiss movements and components, but brand-specific parts may be harder to obtain.

88 Rue Du Rhone watch repair FAQs
How much does an 88 Rue Du Rhone repair cost?
It depends on the service and the condition of the watch. Request a free estimate and we will confirm the price after inspection, before any work begins.
How much does an 88 Rue Du Rhone battery replacement cost?
From £29.95 for single-function watches and £39.95 for chronographs, depending on the model and whether resealing and water-resistance testing are needed. Many can be done in-store the same day.
How long does a repair take?
Many battery changes and minor adjustments can be done while you wait. Servicing, glass replacement and more complex repairs take longer. For postal repairs we confirm a timeline once we have assessed the watch.
Do you use genuine parts?
Where genuine parts are available and appropriate, we source and fit them. If they are restricted or unavailable, we discuss suitable high-quality alternatives with you before any work begins.
Is postal repair safe and insured?
Yes. We recommend an insured, tracked service and can advise the best option. Your watch is checked in and kept secure, and returned by tracked delivery.
When do I pay?
You are not charged for an estimate. We confirm the final quote after inspection and take payment once you approve the work. If anything changes during the repair, we contact you first.
Do you service automatic 88 Rue Du Rhone watches?
Yes. Automatic movements can lose or gain time over the day. Regular servicing, or a simple regulation, keeps them accurate without a complete overhaul.
Can a watch battery leak?
Yes, any battery, cheap or premium, can leak. Replacing it promptly and sealing the case properly greatly reduces the risk. Our premium 100% leak-proof batteries offer extra peace of mind.
